Meeting Point

Maintenance and Provisioning Software

Right after the first Alcort FTTH providers emerged, it became necessary to provide an efficient tool which would allow them to automatically configure customer devices and all the back-end systems. From version FTTHv1.0 to version FTTHv4.1, Alcort developed and improved several scripts to cover such necessities: provisioning and deprovisioning, equipment replacement, service modifications, among others.  Since the very beginning, all those scripts have been accessible through a Linux command line window, which required a certain level of previous knowledge on Information Technologies, making it a very unfriendly user interface.

With the goal of making these tools more accessible to any user profile, Alcort developed Meeting Point: a front-end platform for provisioning and maintenance in an FTTH service provider. After evaluating the different options, this platform was finally based on Web technologies to make it accessible from any type of device (PC, laptop, tablet, smartphone…) and through any web browser, removing the need of installing any specialized software to operate the ISP.

Meeting Point v1.0 was born to solve this essential and it was presented not only as a solution for the ISP tools, but as a reference to many more applications in need of a user-friendly interface: it was meant as a point of convergence to all systems and technologies in our customers.

The landing of this software concurred with the release of a new version of the provisioning software, FTTHv5.1, which adapts all procedures, makes them compatible with the web tools, and implements new algorithms to improve the user experience. This last version proposes a multi-manufacturer approach and combines in a one single modular structure each manufacturer solution, such as Huawei or Calix. It is worth mentioning a new feature as well, which became possible thanks to the use of a web interface: the graphic representation of statistical information from the ISP. This util allows the ISP admin to watch the daily, monthly and annual provisions, or the usage of the PPPoE concentrators, as many others.

At present, Alcort is turning its efforts to add more and more functionalities to the newest version of Meeting Point v2.0.

EFFICIENT MULTIPLE THREAD EXECUTION

Tasks are launched in different parallel threads. That makes it possible to execute several tasks at the same time. This increments efficiency of the program and reduces response time of the interface

INTEGRATION WITH ALL ISP SYSTEMS

Meeting Point integrates several systems in the ISP, such as VoIP servers, Internet access systems, TR069 provisioning server, CMS servers, ticketing tools, among others. This way it is able to join all device’s data in one single interface, making maintenance and operation more simple and agile.

EXPORT STATISTICAL DATA

Meeting point provides statistical information from all end customer devices in order to make the operator easier to analyse current status and evolution of the ISP. It will be possible to detect peaks on registration of new customers, business success in certain geographic areas, most successful speed profiles, device models, and more.

DEVICE GEOLOCATION

It allows geographically locate client devices and monitor their status to detect possible network failures, or to encounter areas where possible commercial actions should be made.
